Dr. Konstantinos Braimakis
Brief Biography
Konstantinos Braimakis is an Assistant Professor at the Laboratory of Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Solar Energy of the School of Mechanical Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). He is also a Visiting Professor at the China-EU Institute for Clean and Renewable Energy (ICARE) at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China.
He received his Diploma in Mechanical Engineering in 2013 and his PhD in 2018 from NTUA, with a dissertation focused on the thermodynamic and economic optimization of advanced Organic Rankine Cycle configurations. In 2014, he was awarded a KCORC Fellowship to conduct part of his doctoral research at the University of Bayreuth, in collaboration with the Technical University of Munich. His work has been recognized with several distinctions, including the Thomais Prize for peer-reviewed scientific publications (2014–2018) and the Dimitris Horafas Foundation Prize in Physics (2018) for his doctoral research.
He is currently Principal Investigator in two ongoing European projects and has previously coordinated four completed projects, while also participating in more than ten European and national research initiatives. He has authored over 40 articles in peer-reviewed international journals and more than 30 publications in international conference proceedings.
His research interests include techno-economic assessment of energy storage systems, decentralized energy conversion systems, solar thermal energy utilization, heat pumps and advanced heating and cooling technologies, industrial refrigeration, waste heat recovery, multi-generation systems, and zero-energy buildings.
